Jackson Parish Police Jury Heavy Load Permit Regulations

  1. A permit does not supersede posted weight limits or posted roads.
  2. No permit shall be issued for a period longer than 90 days.  The permit can be canceled at any time.
  3. A copy of the approved permit is to be kept in each vehicle that hauls to or from the permitted job site.
  4. The responsible party shall be liable for damages caused as a result of work authorized by this permit.
  5. Disregard of the Heavy Load Ordinance will result in fines, fees, permit cancelations, and denial of future permits.
  6. Parish Roads are also governed by a Wet Weather Ordinance.  No hauling 24 hours after measurable rain.
  7. Work may be stopped in wet weather conditions.
  8. The Police Jury reserves the right to designate hauling routes prior to receiving permit.
  9. If the work site is in an adjoining Parish, it must be within the surrounding sections of the Jackson Parish line in order to use our Parish Roads.  Jackson Parish does not receive any tax money on timber cut outside of the Parish.
  10. Equipment shall not be loaded or unloaded from Parish roadways.
  11. In no instance should a Parish Road be made impassable to the public.
  12. No person shall ditch, cut, or change shape of any Parish owned and maintained road.
  13. All companies must obtain a Parish Hauling Permit before any work is done or penalties will apply.
  14. The permit will be issued at no cost unless caught hauling without a permit, all fees and violations will apply.
  15. If caught hauling without a permit, you will be charged a $500.00 fee for the next permit, NO EXCEPTIONS.
  16. No contractor is allowed to alter the natural drainage ditch without providing culverts to allow water flow.
  17. The permit will be at no cost unless caught hauling without a permit, and/or other violations.
  18. If caught hauling without permit, you will be charged a fee of $500.00.  No acceptions.
